Karen E. Hewes
Karen E. Hewes grew up just outside of Storrs, Connecticut, leaving for the Boston area to attend college. She graduated from
Northeastern University, Magna Cum Laude, with a bachelors of arts in political science. Shortly after receiving her bachelor's
degree, Karen attended Suffolk University Law School where she graduated with a Civil Litigation Concentration with Distinction
and Pro Bono Honors.
Throughout her law school career Karen worked at a number of prominent family law firms in the Boston area, where she worked on
both trial and appellate cases. During this time she also clerked for the Honorable Elspeth Cypher at the Massachusetts Appeals
Court, worked on Suffolk University's police misconduct project in conjunction with the ACLU and interned for a number of small
general practices, working on both family law and criminal defense cases. In her last year of law school Karen was admitted to
Suffolk University's Landlord-Tenant Clinical Program, representing indigent tenants, both English and Spanish speaking, in
eviction proceedings at Chelsea District Court in Massachusetts.
At Hewes Law Offices, Karen now focuses her attention on family law, criminal defense, personal injury, civil rights litigation
and employment discrimination. She is also a fluent Spanish speaker, who has always had a passion and love for the law.
In her spare time Karen enjoys cycling, traveling and reading fiction.
